Yes, it is INTENDED to only be a comfort feature. BUT, it is identical to Pressure Support (PS) on a BiLevel with a PS of 1,2, or 3 when set up to match the EPAP on the BiLevel.. Most on this forum use it as effective therapy most of the time. EPR and PS treat Hypopneas, Flow Limits, and RERAs.
Turning it off will do nothing to stop your positional problem and currently optimize your sleep, in fact, it may be helping it some, but obviously not much. Once you have resolved your positional issue then would be the time to try different EPR levels. Until then it will just confuse the issue.
We will react as needed once the positional aspect is resolved and it nay really make a difference. Once numbers are reasonable we tend to focus on comfort, sometimes with numbers that are a bit worse.
