Blowing out extra air
why, when I turn the machine to stop, does it continue to blow out a gentle breeze for a while? Am I just supposed to let that happen? Thanks

RE: Blowing out extra air
I too wondered why it did. When I first got my CPAP machine, I asked my sleep specialist why it did that. He said it'll do that to cool down.
One odd thing I still have a question about is a funny smell when it does cool down. Anyone have information on this?

RE: Blowing out extra air
It is indeed about cooling down the humidifier. The old S8 machines needed it even more.
As for a smell... Shouldn't be one. Clean your tank and hose. (And keep the dogs and cats away from the blower intake -- where the filter is.) And, do change your filter often. Even if it looks like new; it's not. I change filters on the 1st of the month. Admin Note:

It is normal for the machine to run for a bit after you shut it off for it to cool down.

RE: Blowing out extra air
As far as I know, only the Resmed machines do this. Respironics do not. So it's normal for certain machines to do a cool-down, or maybe it's to dry the hose? No matter.
