I know this is an old thread, but I am leaving my comment in case it may help others.
I tried the t-shirt trick, but it did not work for me the first time. I have a beard that is trimmed close, so that probably complicates things.
I will try again, but this time I will may my liners with strips coming out of it around the top and bottom edges so that I can tie those strips around the outside of the mask, and thus hopefully keep the liner in place easier, and make it easier to put on.
