Low Pressure?
Not having the means to have a sleep study done, I purchased a used Resmed 460P online. I had read everything I could and felt comfortable that I really needed the machine. The first three days or so, it was great. I felt so much better and rested. Last night, it seemed the pressure was low and I was back to snoring. Something that had stopped. The first few uses I could the feel the pressure in my mouth. I think you all call it fish lips. Now I can't feel that and I'm back to snoring. I think it has something to do with "Ramp Up" or that C*Flex +; I am just not sure. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can back to the original pressure? Thank you so much for helping.

RE: Low Pressure?
Hi tomurphy - Welcome to the forum!
I appreciate your financial dilemma but self diagnosing is not really wise. Here are two ideas for you to consider: 1. Google:sleep apnea financial assistance 2. Contact your county health services and explain your needs to see if they can offer any assistance. Now, on to your post. . . Your question appeared vague when I read it and I'm having difficulty understanding your actual request. Did you adjust these settings that you refereed to or are you speculating? Are you asking how to get back to factory defaults? The best I can do is provide you the link to obtaining the clinician manual for your machine: http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-pr...tup-manual This is the same link as at the top of the page. Also, your profile shows that you are using ResScan. This software is for a ResMed machine only and you have a Philips machine. The two are incompatible. You will need either Encore or SleepyHead for your unit. Good luck in your quest.

RE: Low Pressure?
Thank you for the advise. I had to guess at the software, so thanks for that. I'll know what to download. About he setting on the pressure. I guess what I am trying to say is, that I don't know why it would change? It was perfect for a few days, then decides to go to something else. I do understand you concern about the sleep study. My plan is if this works (and it does), I will go to the doctor's and start the process of doing it correctly.

RE: Low Pressure?
additionally, here's a site my Sleep Dr. gave me.
http://sleepapnea.org/resources/cpap-ass...ogram.html I've not crawled all the way through it, but they may have a way for you to get a sleep study at a reasonable rate. Also, if you should somehow wind up in a hospital and complain of headaches, feeling lousy after sleeping and the such, i've known some facilities to run you through a quick sleep study while in the hospital, many are county hospitals just covering their posteriors. Rummage around on the site and they may be able to give you an idea or lend a hand... That's one of the things that site seems to be geared to do. Best to you.

Sure the pharma co's create meds in certain mg strengths. Just because I use "N" mg's of a substance doesn't mean you will benefit using the same "N" mg's of the substance. Sleep Apnea and ?PAP pressures are similar as we all have our own ranges. Sure, some of us have the same settings, but our individual problems are exactly that. Besides that, there can be a multitude of interrelated issues for sleep apnea. (08-24-2016, 10:32 AM)tomurphy Wrote: It was perfect for a few days, then decides to go to something else. Perhaps you've been diagnosed with sleep apnea in the past and you're supposition is this will solve it? Check out the link provided earlier and see what you can do. See a physician that is a board certified sleep specialist. This is nothing to pussyfoot around with. It's not like trying to tune the engine in your car.

RE: Low Pressure?
Did you change any settings on the machine, any at all? Did you roll over on your back? Is the mask leaking? That would reduce the effective pressure. Changes like allergies or a cold could cause your pressure needs to change.

RE: Low Pressure?
Hi tomurphy,
If you have a RemStar Pro 460 as stated in your profile, then you have a manual Cpap machine, meaning you can set one straight pressure, and it cannot change during the night unless you change it yourself. Do you know what pressure it is set at, and why do you think it has changed? If you are using CFLEX....then that can be changed, the settings are 1, 2 and 3. This is exhale pressure relief and will help you breath out against the pressure. As far as feeling pressure in your mouth, you are more than likely mouth breathing. You may need a chin strap. It's a bit hard to advise you as you did not give us much to go on. To make any of the changes you will need to access the Clinicians menu. Order the manual and it will show you how to make the changes on your machine. http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-pr...tup-manual You may want to consider an overnight home study, as this would be a cheaper option. Talk to your doctor about this.

RE: Low Pressure?
Wait a minute! The PRS! 460 offers an Auto Trial mode. That unit can act as an auto CPAP to check your titration over 30 days, or whatever period you specify. Using variable pressure may help you determine the best fixed pressure to use. That's why it's there. Download the privider manual, and if you want to try something else, and observe the results, change to auto-trial mode.
