RE: sleep apnea and DOT rules
I'm a bus driver in Canada and I'm required to see my doctor every year and have him fill out a form for the motor vehicle dept. which must be sent in within 45 days or I lose my license until such time as they receive a report from the doctors office stating that I passed the test (I can't recall what its called but they ask you a bunch of questions and each answer has a value, they then add up all your scores to determine if your safe or not).
Here you MUST inform the motor vehicle dept. of any medical condition that may affect your ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. If you don't you can be held liable if your in an accident and if the motor vehicle dept. somehow finds out you will lose your license immediately.

Scott, still ask your doc about the print out. It would be interesting to see if he would accept it. How often do you have to do this dance? Once a year?

RE: sleep apnea and DOT rules
Hi just found this forum
Last year I lost a month of work due to the DOT regs . The 4 hours required I missed it and average of 13 minutes a night so I didn't pass . I wish I had never been diagnosed with this , my insurance company here is the kicker my works for a Hospital and they don't cover cpap machines ! My machine is old and I am now having problems worse than this ti e last year with use of the machine wake up every what seems like 5 minutes stuffy nosenow using machine maybe 3 to 4 times a week if I'm lucky ! Any suggestions would help soon to be out of work again I'm guessing !

RE: sleep apnea and DOT rules
If you're not otr, how about using it while you are awake. Maybe an hour before you go to sleep. That gives you an extra hour to mess with per night.
My cdl is up in 2019. I had to give up my hazmat endorsement because the 4Fs (fees, forms , fingerprinting and fees) were getting ridiculous. I don't drive tankers anymore though.
Using FlashAir W-03 SD card in machine. You can download your data through wifi with FlashPAP or Sleep Master utilities.
I wanted to learn Binary so I enrolled in Binary 101. I seemed to have missed the first four courses. Stick it to the man, Download OSCAR and take back control of your data! Thanks Ian. Like I didn't have enough Honey-Do projects to tackle.

RE: sleep apnea and DOT rules
My suggestion is download SleepyHead and post the results and let the old heads here help you figure out what is going on with you.
I use my PAP machine nightly and I feel great!

To Alan, E great idea I'm home every night so that would help. My wife suggested putting it on our black Lab who snores . I regret getting diagnosed it is such a pain especially if you have a CDL . The first six months I lost weight but now 3 years later I don't feel any better , wonder if I need the pressure bumped up ?

RE: sleep apnea and DOT rules
Possibly. As Mark mentioned, you can post up some graphs from sleepyhead. Probably would be best to start a new thread for that though. Would be easier to find later.
